Regarding this world.....

The Prophet Muhammad said
" The one who makes this world his focus, God will deprive him of contentment and heartfelt satisfaction. He will remain ever in greedy pursuit of wealth and unattainable desires, and he will never receive more than the share that God has ordained for him.

Whoever makes their focus the next life, God will bestow contentment and heartfelt satisfaction on them. He will also protect them from being greedy for wealth, and they will get their allotted share in this world"

I'm 30! New goal setting

So the day that inspired joy and trepidation is here, I'm now 30, an adult.
Here are some goals I had set for myself to achieve at this age
1) complete a college degree, grad degree?
2) start a career
3) possibly get married, be in a serious relationship
4) possibly have a kid
5) have a house, small but comfy
6) lose 30 pounds by my 30th birthday (a newer goal set last year and... achieved!)
- Mashallah I have achieved these goals, tentative and otherwise. I'm very happy that I've accomplished so much in my beginning adult years, the best being my awesome son.

Now I've been freaking out about what goals to have now. But I've been contemplating about who I am as a person compared to 10 years ago and here are some changes that have been made-
1) I'm more confident in being myself (silly, a loner, standing out in this white, Christian society.)
2) I'm learning the importance of follow through and doing the right thing, no matter how uncomfortable
3) I'm not losing myself (trying anyway) within my relationships with others, separating my feelings for them and prioritizing my own feelings
4) I'm more realistic that life is not always going to be fun and good times but that the bad moments are not world ending
5) I'm optimistic of the future as I know I can have a part in its outcome and not a helpless, inactive bystander

So now that I've spent my birthday exploring the beauty of nature (Cave of the Winds still rocks) and the awesomeness of good food and absorbing that I am now 30 and no longer have the youthful idiocy excuse to do illogical things, here is my tentative new life goals
1) remain fit and active- go down to 140 ish and stay there (not just for vanity but for the satisfaction of working hard to achieve a goal)
2) have a successful teaching, social services career
3) be a more patient and less reactive parent and person in general
4) do what's best for me, even if it’s hard for me to do
5) not hold myself back, from being creative or otherwise due to anxiety of unfamiliarity (like starting a book or living a life elsewhere)

So heres to my new adult years and to using my life experience to be a much realer person
